What does a banker do? Does he analyse figures? What does everyday work actually look like? These are the questions young people ask themselves during their career orientation phase and the subsequent application process.

TARGOBANK recruits around 250 trainees and dual students every year. In the process, they receive around 20,000 training applications per year. To provide an insight into the business, the innovative bank now uses VR. This is another element in the so-called candidate journey.

Reaching the applicant where they like to be: at home

After receiving an application, the applicant first receives an invitation to the TARGOBANK tour. Here, he or she has the opportunity to get a first insight into the future working environment and to prove his or her skills in cognitive performance tests. The test questions are embedded in a storyline that takes place in the future working environment. The applicant acts as a trainee in the real TARGOBANK setting and is accompanied by virtual characters. The whole thing takes place in the applicant's familiar environment: At home.

Based on the acquired test result and the submitted application documents, TARGOBANK's HR then forms an overall picture of the applicant. A selection of candidates is invited to the next applicant round, which consists of several components. In addition to the task of giving a prepared self-presentation, the applicant is given the opportunity to accompany the trainee "Nour" in her everyday work via virtual reality glasses.

Inspire the applicant where he or she knows well: in the digital world

Nour takes the applicants on a virtual 360-degree tour. Thus, with the help of the VR glasses, the applicants see several places in no time that will be relevant for them during their training - from the training academy to the training branch. Nour also shows their daily training routine and takes the applicant into a customer meeting, for example.

This gives the applicants an authentic insight into the world of TARGOBANK - and also clarifies questions such as "How do bankers actually dress? And because the project is so well received, VR glasses are already being used in all applicant rounds. In addition, the 360-degree film is being sent to interested schools to arouse interest in the profession.
