HTC hat ein VR-Projekt zum sogenannten „Unabomber“ finanziert. Dabei geht es um den Mathematiker Theodore Kaczynskiwho sent a total of 16 letter bombs to various people in the USA between 1978 and 1995.
Durch die Briefbomen wurden drei Menschen getötet und weitere 23 verletzt. Von der Presse wurde Theodore Kaczynski als der „Unabomber“ bezeichnet. Der Kriminalfall war der teuerste und längste in der Geschichte des FBI. Die VR-Erfahrung liefert eine historische Aufarbeitung und dient Bildungszwecken.
In „Unabomber VR“ you take on the role of FBI agent Terry Turchie, who was involved in the investigation. For example, you examine the most important pieces of evidence, defuse a bomb and visit the hermit's cabin where Theodore Kaczynski has retreated.
„Unabomber VR“ wurde vom Newseum, the Museum of Journalism in Washington D.C.. The VR experience will be released via Steam and Viveport. Other apps of this kind are to follow.
