Ein spielerischer Start in die virtuelle Energiewelt mit EKZ

A playful start to the virtual energy world with EKZ

The electricity utilities of the Canton of Zurich invite you into virtual energy worlds. Here you playfully walk as an avatar through individual rooms and learn about various solutions.

EKZ (Elektrizitätswerke des Kantons Zürich) want to give interested people a playful start in the virtual energy world. Together with Tymen Goetsch, a digital 3D house was therefore developed that presents energy solutions for private individuals and is ready for the Metaverse. After choosing your own avatar from numerous templates, you start with a 360° view.

Getting to know customer needs in the micro meta world

"In the compact virtual EKZ world, you walk with your chosen avatar through the individual rooms and the garden and learn more about the solutions in the area of electromobility, heat pumps and solar systems in a playful way," Mattias Gienal, Head of Marketing at EKZ, is quoted as saying. By clicking on different symbols, one can find information on the respective topic. With this micro-meta world, the goal is to see first-hand how customer needs unfold in walk-in digital worlds. On the other hand, they work directly with developers and thus have their finger on the pulse of the rapid developments.

Next evolution of immersive marketing

The world was created using Spatial.io, a virtual reality platform in which virtual avatars can talk to each other and work together in real time using spatial audio.

"The EKZ virtual house runs on the Spatial platform and was created using the Unity 3D engine. It becomes part of an ever-expanding range of 3D worlds in the metaverse that combine integrability, playful discovery and new technologies, so EKZ is entering the next evolution of immersive marketing on the web," adds Tymen Goetsch. "Desktop users simply get on board with the Web browser and for mobile users it goes after the Download and open the Spatial App. This means that EKZ is also ready to be where the customers of today, and above all of tomorrow, are in the future with suitable energy solutions.
