Fashion Innovation Award 2021

The digital fashion future

Luxury brand Bally, in collaboration with the Lifestyle-Tech Competence Centre, has announced the winners of the Fashion Innovation Award 2021, the virtual fashion edition.

The Fashion Innovation Award was presented for the third time this week in Ticino. Main sponsor Bally, together with the Lifestyle-Tech Competence Centre, invited the 12 finalists to the Bally headquarters in Caslano to evaluate their pitches in the two categories Virtual Fashion and Agumented Customer Experience over the course of a day. The jury was made up of the entire Bally management team, executives from the other sponsors and representatives of the press - including deputy editor-in-chief Kerstin Hasse.

In the virtual fashion category, scouting focused on finding solutions in the areas of 3D fashion design, virtual clothing, NFTs for virtual fashion, fashion avatars, virtual models, fashion metaverse, games and more.

The finalists from Europe, Asia and North America impressed in their digital 5-minute pitches with innovative ideas on topics such as 3D fashion design, fashion metaverse or virtual clothing and gave an insight into the - digitalised - future of the fashion industry.

3D interactions and AR fitting functions

After the pitches, the jury led by Bally CEO Nicolas Girotto was able to deliberate on the projects presented. The winner in the "Virtual Fashion" category was OppenFuture Technologies, a China-based 3D and augmented reality (AR) technology company that offers 3D interactions and AR fitting functions for online shops. Among other things, OppenFuture impressed with a 3D animation of a Bally bag that could be playfully viewed on a mobile device and impressed with its digital product authenticity.

Virtual shops

The US company Obsess came out on top in the second category. Obsess impressed with its virtual reality (VR) technology, which it uses for shops and showrooms. This enables users to experience the online shopping experience in a completely new way - instead of clicking through a simple website, customers can spend time in high-quality designed digital spaces. Both winners of the competition will be given the opportunity to work on a proof-of-concept project with the Swiss label next year.
