Niantic plant offenbar AR-Brille

Niantic apparently plans AR glasses

Niantic, which is known for augmented reality games such as "Pokémon Go" and "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite", is apparently working on its own AR glasses. This was revealed by John Hanke, the company's CEO.

On Twitter he posted a picture that probably shows a pair of AR glasses with the Niantic logo (see above). He writes: "It's exciting to see the progress we're making to enable new types of devices that utilise our platform." Augmented reality is not mentioned, but it is quite certain that this is exactly what Niantic means, especially because the AR games "Pokémon Go" and "Harry Potter: Wizards Unite" would benefit greatly from such a device.

Niantic is also looking for a "Head of AR OS Engineering", which is another reference to the AR headset. According to the job advert: "We are on an ambitious mission to turn the world into an augmented reality canvas on which to display games and other applications. This future will be realised entirely on AR Head Mounted Displays (HMDs). Niantic's engineering team is looking for an inspiring leader to oversee the technical direction to develop an AR operating system for HMDs and enable applications for millions of Niantic players."
