Headset-only version of VIVE Cosmos Elite

HTC has released the headset-only version of the VIVE Cosmos Elite announced. Following extensive feedback, an upgrade option will soon be available for all VIVE owners (or those with base stations and controllers). In the coming weeks, HTC will release the HMD version of the Cosmos Elite headset and the External Tracking Faceplate as a standalone accessory.

The headset-only version (for VIVE owners with base stations and controllers) offers a pre-installed External Tracking Faceplate and Cosmos headset, Half-Life: Alyx and six months of Viveport Infinity at no additional cost. The External Tracking Faceplate, offered as an upgrade for VIVE Cosmos, can be used with base station versions 1.0 and 2.0 as well as the original VIVE and VIVE Pro controllers and can be exchanged for the original faceplate that ships with VIVE Cosmos. The External Tracking Faceplate also comes with a code for "Half-Life: Alyx" and includes six months of Viveport Infinity for free.

The Elite headset will be available in stores from 27 April 2020, according to the manufacturer. The External Tracking Faceplate will be released worldwide in the second quarter of 2020. However, it also states "Due to the increased demand, the devices will be released as soon as possible. The special challenges posed by the current pandemic must be taken into account."
