HP working on next-gen VR headset

HP has announced that it is working with Microsoft and Valve on a next-gen VR headset. This is the HP Reverb G2. A short teaser video draws attention to this.

Unfortunately, HP has not yet provided any specific details about the new next-gen VR headset, but it is rumoured that no compromises will be made. According to this, the latest technology will be used, which will not be cheap. So don't expect a budget VR headset from HP.

Two front cameras can be seen in the images so far, but it is not possible to say whether there are any other tracking cameras on the device. What can be recognised, however, are the off-ear speakers, which should be well suited for spatial sound.

HP writes on the new VR headset: "The next-generation HP Virtual Reality HMD, developed in collaboration with Valve and Microsoft, offers a comprehensive, comfortable and compatible VR experience. It is the new standard in VR."
