The TV channel Arte will release the VR film "Gloomy Eyes" for Oculus Quest, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift on 14 February 2020. In addition to the "6 DOF" version, a 360-degree video will also be available on the YouTube channel from Arte and on "arte.tv/gloomyeyes" will be available.
The animated poetic love story between a zombie boy and a human girl in a city without sunlight is narrated by Max Riemelt (German), Colin Farrell (English), Tahar Rahim (French) and Jorge Drexler (Spanish). "Gloomy Eyes" is based on Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas", but places the audience at the centre of the action.
This is the plot: "When the sun grew tired of humanity, it hid itself and never rose again. This darkness awakened the dead from their graves. In the midst of the chaos, a zombie boy named Gloomy and a mortal girl named Nena fall in love. Even the most powerful man in the city cannot destroy their bond. Together, perhaps they can put an end to the eternal night."
