VRDAYS Zurich - an escape from the real world?

For 2 days, Hall 622 was dominated by virtual reality. For 2 days, hundreds of visitors lingered in fantasy worlds and sealed themselves off completely from the outside world under their headsets. And yet there were many real, valuable contacts.

"That was just amazing!" "Have you tried that yet? That was mega awesome!" "I'm going to have to buy some of those glasses right away." Most of the visitors were amazed and very enthusiastic about the new technologies they were able to try out.

Immerse yourself in virtual reality; that's what you could do this weekend on Saturday and Sunday in Hall 622 in Oerlikon at the first edition of VRDAYS. Maybe one or the other had already read something about it before the visit, but probably very few had been able to gather so many different experiences in one place before. At VRDAYS, everything was possible: whether VR Cinema, gaming, VR business solutions or AR applications - testing was encouraged. The event lived from versatile interactions - including real ones.

National and international artists up close

National and international artists showed Tilt Brush creations and other applications on stage. The audience was repeatedly invited to ask questions or to come on stage so that they could see for themselves what was happening in the virtual world.

360° visitor support

The visitors also had many opportunities to discuss the latest developments with experts and were thus able to inform themselves literally 360°. Often, the developers and managing directors were personally available at the individual stands to answer questions and provide information. Since VR is still a niche product, mainly small and very young companies were among the exhibitors, which somehow made the atmosphere extremely uncomplicated.

When the spark ignites

The fact that VR has not yet found a place in the masses was shown by the very well-attended workshops, which mainly explained the basics and stimulated ideas about where VR and AR could be used. However, the fact that the spark can jump over quite quickly thanks to such an event is shown by the interview with View.

When VR ends in real conversations

The fact that VR is not just an escape from the real world was proven by the visitors' great desire to talk about it with colleagues or family immediately after trying it out. People philosophised and collected ideas about where VR can create added value.

Regardless of whether it was the first time you had contact with VR and AR, or whether you were able to make an interesting (business) contact, every visitor was sure to take a lot away with them and can look forward to a second edition next year.
