Dino Invasion

Dinosaur Invasion in Basel

Dinosaurs have been extinct for 65 million years. Nevertheless, their toy-turned-images still populate many children's rooms and hardly a childhood goes by without a more or less intense dinosaur phase.

It is a Swiss premiere: the life of dinosaurs on planet Earth has been reconstructed down to the smallest detail by Dinosaur Invasion, with more than 30 specimens that appear highly alive thanks to electronic animation on a scale of 1:1. A highly interesting world where visitors can learn what came before us and what could even return thanks to technological advances and new findings in genetics research.

The visit to the exhibition lasts about an hour and offers the possibility of a virtual experience as well as access to the latest scientific information via the audio guide. The didactic and scientific tour is completed by VR stations where visitors can immerse themselves completely in the Jura (from 6 years with an accompanying person).

Evolution of the dinosaurs

The course comprises a sequence of islands, each representing the vegetation and habitat of the different species. They show the visitor the evolution of the dinosaurs from the late Triassic, when the first specimens appeared on the scene, through the Jurassic with the diversification into different species, to their extinction towards the end of the Cretaceous, which was probably caused by the impact of a large asteroid on Earth around 65 million years ago.

Learn and experience something new

Those with younger children probably have to go anyway, because dino fever breaks out on average from the age of 3 to 5. And those who want to relive their dino phase will not only experience something new because of VR. Almost everything that was written about dinos in our children's books is now long outdated.
