Virtual Room Zürich

Test: Are we dead

Finally, the new title "Are we dead" is in the Virtual Room Zurich playable. An ingenious mix of adventure and shooter.

Fight a horde of zombies? That's the mission in many different VR titles. But what if you are the zombie yourself and have to fight for the survival of your own race with your zombie team? In the new game "Are we dead", it is time for the players to change perspective and save the zombies for once. But anyone expecting a simple revenge shooter à la the zombies strike back is mistaken.

The game is more of an adventure game in which you have to master various tasks in different rooms, just like in an escape game. Throwing, aiming and shooting are definitely not neglected in "Are we dead". Especially if you don't hit the spotlight... - but we don't want to give too much away. Just this: As with the other both games of Virtual Room, there is of course also a short shooter part at the end, including a boss. It's exactly this kind of variety that appeals.

The story starts in the year 2040, where an infection in a secret military base is spawning a rampant zombie population that is ravaging the planet. Scientists are in the process of discovering an antidote and will soon begin eliminating all zombies from Earth. We are now tasked with saving our race as a zombie team.

Into Zombie Mode

After the instruction, we go to the separate boxes, only to meet as zombies in the virtual world a short time later. I call out to my partner via microphone: "You've looked better...". The answer comes in return: "Well, thanks the same, by the way, you've got an eye hanging out." Well, that's life as a zombie: you look like shit, but you can do things with your body parts that you otherwise can't do as a normal mortal. In this respect, "I'm throwing myself away" takes on a completely different meaning (small hint). Since my brain doesn't quite work in zombie mode yet, our game director has to point out our superpower to me every now and then.

The immersive VR game convinces with funny details and chic graphics. The cheeky tasks, which you have to solve cooperatively in order to progress successfully in the mission, remain exciting from the beginning to the end. Of course, it helps if you have some VR experience in order to progress quickly in the game.

In the end, we were busy with the game for almost an hour and had a lot of fun.

Virtual Room Zurich

At the Virtual Room in Zurich, not only has a new title been added to the range, but something has also changed in the location itself. The entrance area now offers a little more space, which can be used for larger team events for aperitif purposes.

The Virtual Room Zurich is definitely worth one or now already three visits.
