Der Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2 verspricht ein idyllisches Angelerlebnis in der Virtual Reality

Relaxed fishing in virtual reality

The Ultimate Fishing Simulator 2 promises an idyllic fishing experience in virtual reality.

Fishing is in vogue. New perhaps VR fishing? Publisher Ultimate Games has recognised the enormous relaxation potential in their Ultimate Fishing Simulator. Part 1 got a paid SteamVR update in 2019, which sold around 60,000 copies, according to the manufacturer. Ultimate Games sold 350,000 copies of the main game. The sequel entered Early Access on 22 August and a VR version is also in the works this time.

Pure relaxation with VR fishing

In the past, fishing games caused a stir primarily because of their exotic status or obscure controllers. In virtual reality, however, the feeling of presence in front of idyllic natural scenery increases immensely. A study in cognitive science, for example, showed that during a VR walk, even simple greenery made the test subjects feel much more relaxed.

The Ultimate Fishing Simulator could also have this effect. The new trailer already shows graphically significantly improved locations.

There are fishing spots in the USA (Jackson Park), Poland (Zalasie Summer Resort), Slovakia (Mountain River), Russia (Kurile Lake), Kiel or the Kiel Canal and Thailand (Blue Bay).

In addition to 60 species of fish (depending on the fishing spot), more than 200 items of equipment await the anglers. These include rods, reels, lures and fishing poses as bite indicators. A new underwater camera captures in detail how different fishing techniques work, according to the studio. Other improvements include new dynamic water and smarter fish.

Boats, aquariums and various skills are also included. The new development studio Mastercode is thus primarily focusing on authenticity.

VR Edition comes later

Ultimate Fishing Simulator is available for 16.99 euros as Early Access on Steam. The VR version will follow in six months. Then the conventional full version will also be released for the PC and various consoles.

Those who have always wanted to fish but don't yet have a patent can perhaps try out fishing here to see if they like it. Even those who don't like killing fish but still want to relax will get their money's worth here.
