What might it feel like to live with symptoms of dementia? In close cooperation with the Institute of Applied Nursing Science, the VR agency Bandara has developed a virtual reality simulation that makes it possible to experience an approach to possible dementia symptoms. The aim of the project is to sensitise nurses in training to such symptoms in an innovative and empathetic way in order to improve the cooperation with patients.
The VR Experience is part of the learning site for technology-based simulation in the field of dementia care (SimDeC), which the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland OST has initialised. Various simulations are used in a rented flat. In a dedicated VR room, trainees can put on VR goggles and move through a digital copy of the flat. While they have to complete various tasks, they are confronted with possible symptoms of dementia.
