Visitors can virtually explore real estate, sites, educational locations, favourite places or companies. This is the canton of St.Gallen's response to the limited freedom to travel, according to the canton.

Marvel at mountain panoramas with different tools

The defined places and undertakings are marked accordingly and supplemented with text, audio or video contributions.

Companies can take a closer look at the development of an area, but those who just want to admire nature and fly over the Säntis, for example, can also do so. The various vantage points and mountain panoramas can be admired in winter as well as in summer.

Even more mobility over time

As a canton, St.Gallen is taking on a pioneering role with this project. However, the "east-site" is still in its infancy. For example, the travel options for visitors are not yet fully developed. So far, only navigation by mouse is possible. Later, more mobility is to be added with various buttons. The points of interest shown will be added to on an ongoing basis and in cooperation with the St.Gallen regions. For example, a visit to the Openair St.Gallen is to be accompanied by music and area developments will soon be able to be viewed as 3D models with additional information.

As part of the pilot project with the city of St.Gallen, many points of interest and service providers have already been recorded. However, the canton is making the platform available to all regions. They are called upon to fill "east-site" with content of supra-regional significance and thus increase the appeal of the platform throughout the canton.

Especially in times of limited freedom of movement and travel, "east-site" enables interested parties to experience the Canton of St.Gallen without having to be there themselves. This is helpful, among other things, for those interested in settling in St.Gallen who would like to explore and get to know St.Gallen virtually in advance. With the Aumivi AG a St.Gallen-based start-up with expertise in the creation of virtual solutions was won for the implementation of "east-site". Hundreds of high-resolution aerial panoramas form the basis for the interactive virtual and mixed reality tour. "east-site" can be used in a variety of ways. For individual exploration with a laptop at the workplace, by means of large touch screens at events and trade fairs or directly with virtual reality glasses: "east-site" supports location promotion with emotions and state-of-the-art technology.
