Zürcher Kantonalbank is celebrating its 150th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the bank is inviting the people of Zurich on an inspiring journey into the past and into the future. They can experience exciting, entertaining and surprising trouvailles, playfully and interactively staged and analogue with virtual reality and augmented reality.
History can be experienced interactively here
For 45 days, interested visitors can take a fascinating look behind the scenes and into the history of the Zürcher Kantonalbank and the Canton of Zurich. The ZeitReise pavilion offers various attractions in four rooms on almost 500 square metres. Visitors can look forward to a wide variety of presentations:
- 150 stories
- Interactive map
- VR cinema
- Drama
The ZeitReise pavilion is located in the so-called ErlebnisGarten on the Landiwiese from 29 May to 12 July 2020 and is open to the public free of charge from 10:00 - 22:00 each day.
Collection - Stories from 150 years
The ZeitReise experience begins as soon as you enter the pavilion. In the first room, the ZKB displays a collection of objects, photos, audio and video documents. Each of these relates to one of the 150 stories that the team of historians collected over two and a half years in the archives of the Zürcher Kantonalbank.
There is something for everyone: banking, everyday stories or historical bank robberies. By means of a QR code, you can read each story directly on site on your smartphone.
Interactive AR Map - The Canton and its Bank
A large table in the shape of the canton of Zurich welcomes visitors here. You can look for your own municipality there and be surprised where the Bank's work often appears quite unexpectedly.
With an augmented reality app on the tablet, you call up individual stories on the interactive map, which you then experience digitally. In this "enriched reality" you can see, among other things, the first car of the Zürcher Kantonalbank, the escape route of the notorious Alfa gang or the bank's most famous customer.
VR Cinema - The Stormy Past of the Canton of Zurich
A highlight is the 15-minute virtual reality film. It shows the living conditions and political circumstances of the 19th century. At that time, the imbalance between town and country and the economically difficult situation led to the first democratic constitution of the canton and the foundation of the Zürcher Kantonalbank.
The cinema seats 25 and shows around 20 performances a day.
Drama - The Bank in Three Epochs
In the play, visitors experience everyday banking life in the years 1910, 1980 and in the near future. The first two scenes are based on historical events. Employees of the bank as amateur actors, professional actors and the directors Thorgevsky & Wiener have joined forces to form a lively theatre community. The play lasts a total of 30 minutes and is performed 20 times a day.
