Interesting patents have been discovered by Microsoft that are related to VR. However, it must be clearly stated that such patents do not necessarily have to lead to real products.
According to a patent, Microsoft could be working on a VR mat. Since it can be connected to a console, it could be intended for the next generation of consoles, which is codenamed Xbox Scarlett and will be released in autumn 2020. The mat can detect the user's position and also show the boundary of the playing field. Furthermore, vibration motors could provide haptic feedback.
Another patent mentions a motion controller that can of course be used with and without virtual reality, again with a console. It can be used with one hand and has a thumbstick. This makes it similar to other controllers of this kind. There is also a stylus with which you can write in the air. Depending on the movement of the stylus, certain actions can be carried out.
