What to expect at the third Swiss Digitaltag

The third national Digitaltag will take place on 3 September. At twelve locations throughout Switzerland, visitors can expect talks, stage shows and exhibitions - everything to do with the topic of digitalisation and thus also VR.

On 3 September 2019, Switzerland will host the third edition of the Digitaltag with a total of 300 free activities, 100 more than last year. Among them are talks, stage shows and exhibitions - all under the sign of "lifelong learning". After all, digitalisation is bringing about changes in all areas of our lives. In order to benefit from them, we have to learn how to deal with them.

Digitaltag 2019 aims to raise awareness that these changes represent an opportunity - lifelong learning is the key. This year's Digitaltag opening venue is the city of Bern for the first time. There, Federal President Ueli Maurer (68) will officially open the day of action at 12.30 p.m. on Bahnhofsplatz. Other locations will join in live.

VR en masse

There will be many attractions. Among them are some VR experiences: For example, you can experience a visit to the virtual municipal counter and learn how administrative matters can be handled from anywhere in the future - via live transmission! If you've always wanted to fly over the city of Bern like a bird, you can do so with the virtual reality flight simulator "Birdly". In the process, you can find out where the federal city could still move in terms of energy management.

Swiss director Claudio Fäh, who lives in Los Angeles, shows that virtual reality glasses can also be used in a completely different field of application. His documentary "Child of the Earth" is about how virtual reality can make life a little easier for a terminally ill teenager. On stage at the main station, he will tell how the project came about. The start-up HEGIAS will also be there with its multiplayer application - one of the 10 Swiss PropTech companies to keep an eye on according to the Start-up EU.

There is a lot of VR among the 40 exhibition stands, but robots such as "Yumi", with which you can take a selfie, are also in vogue. The four-legged robot "AnyMal" will also be demonstrating its skills on stage.

However, the day of action does not only take place in Bern and Zurich. For example, there are also Digital Day events in the cities of St. Gallen, Geneva, Lugano, Biel and Chur - in cooperation with over 90 partners. In principle, the Digital Day lasts from 8 am to 7 pm.
