While PlayStation VR will probably also play a major role in the PS5, Microsoft could ignore virtual reality again with the next Xbox (codenamed "Scarlett"), at least according to one developer.
Pablo Lafora, game designer at Tessera Studios, known for the PSVR horror thriller "Intruders: Hide and Seek"believes that the next Xbox could once again do without VR integration. However, it is possible that HoloLens 2 will be supported in some form. In any case, it is true that Microsoft has already talked about some future things such as xCloud, but the company has hardly said a word about VR.
"No matter how much I ask, I never get any news about Microsoft VR. Just a few rumours about HoloLens 2. It seems like they don't have much interest in VR. On the one hand, it looks like they won't be integrating VR features for their next console. On the other hand... that sounds really risky. Maybe the next Xbox will be compatible with HoloLens 2? That may happen, but we don't think the console marketing HoloLens will become a core feature," says Pablo Lafora.
