Kenzan Studios - Portrait of the largest VR studio in Switzerland

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Kenzan Studio. Kenzan is an award-winning studio based in Geneva that specialises in creative content creation. The company employs over 30 people. Their main focus is on virtual reality. Individual shop concepts are currently the focus of Kenzan Studios. These are sales-promoting attractions for shopping centres, ready to use and easy to operate. As a customer magnet from young to old, they attract customers to the shopping centre to play an exciting game of 2-4 minutes. In the process, the games are customised, with branding and product placements.

Currently, Kenzan has developed a VR mall promotion in cooperation with the Coop shopping centres, with which they are touring Switzerland for 30 weeks. Anyone who would like to take a look at this can do so at one of the Tour stops make.

We had the chance to talk to Ronny Tobler, CEO Kenzan Studios, about the studio and VR in general:

What are you working on at the moment?
We are working on a multiplayer shooter for HTC/Oculus info to follow at SVVR end of March.
We are also working on a children's game based on the children's books "Theo and Leonie".

Why is VR the focus for you?
For us, it is the next logical evolution of gaming and entertainment.

What is the big challenge in developing VR projects?
It is the "time to market" costs. It takes a big team so that the quality can be high.

What role does Switzerland play in the VR sector?
From a developer's point of view, we contribute a lot. However, it is difficult to build a VR company in Switzerland because venture capital is hard to come by.

Where do you see Kenzan in 5 years?
We want to become the international quality leader in VR.

What would you most like to implement if everything were possible?
A full-body experience with all the elements. The possibility to feel and experience everything as in reality, but in a virtual reality.

What will the VR market look like in five years?
In five years, it will already be a normal part of our society. Especially in areas like marketing, gaming, therapies or the business world, VR will play an important role. It will make us more efficient and move us forward. By then, VR will be mature.
