Improved VR video quality for Oculus Go

Oculus Go is working on improving the quality of VR videos. So if you're not quite satisfied with the material you've seen so far, there will soon be a remedy, although of course you'll have to wait and see how the final result will perform.

As the developer legend John Carmack at Twitter he is currently working on a new and high-resolution playback format for VR videos that will be used with Oculus Go and newer Gear VR smartphones. John Carmack is even holding out the prospect of a "5K x 5K" resolution at 60 frames per second.

"It's going to be a big download, but it's going to set a new bar for immersive video quality," says John Carmack of a newly rendered version of the VR short film "Henry"which is intended to demonstrate the improved video format. "Henry" was produced by the now closed Oculus Story Studios. It is not known when the new version will be released.
