Explore the spaceship Serenity in VR

"Firefly: The Departure of the Serenity" is a TV series by Joss Whedon, which was first broadcast on the US television channel Fox in 2002 and 2003 before being cancelled after just 11 of 14 episodes and one season. At least a film called "Serenity: Escape to New Worlds" was made to bring the story to a conclusion. Now Serenity is returning via virtual reality.

That's not a bad idea, because "Firefly: The Serenity Rises" was and is very popular among sci-fi fans, a target group that is usually well-disposed towards new technologies. 3D enviromental artist Kaveh Tabar has recreated the interior of the Serenity for VR using the Unity engine. The video shows some areas of the spaceship that are quite impressive.

Unfortunately, you can't do too much on board the Serenity apart from explore it and pick up a few items. For fans, the VR excursion should still be worth a look. If you have Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or a Windows Mixed Reality headset, you can enjoy the free download work. According to Kaveh Tabar, all VR headsets with SteamVR support should work.
