Back in November 2017, HTC launched the mobile VR headset Vive Focus was announced, but only for the Chinese market. At GDC 2018 in San Francisco, the manufacturer announced that Vive Focus will also be released on international markets in 2018, including Europe.
Vive Focus was developed to appeal to a wider audience in the mass market and commercial users or companies who want a practical and portable VR experience, as the VR headset does not require a PC. On the official side interested developers can already register for dev kits.

HTC ergänzt in der aktuellen Pressemeldung: „Darüber hinaus erhalten Entwickler, die Inhalte für Vive Focus oder der PC-basierten Vive für Viveport in China bereitstellen, von April bis September 2018 einen Umsatzanteil von 100% aus dem Titelverkauf und dem Viveport-Abonnement in China. Viveport ist nach wie vor die beste Plattform für VR-Entwickler, und durch das Rev-Share-Modell motiviert Vive Entwickler zusätzlich, den besten VR-Inhalt zu erstellen, unabhängig von der Hardware.“
