While Sony Interactive Entertainment is celebrating some success with PlayStation VR and over two million units sold, Nintendo is still very sceptical about virtual reality.
Philippe Lavoué, der General Manager von Nintendo Frankreich, sagte in einem aktuellen Interview die folgenden Worte: „Wir sind sehr pragmatisch. Wenn man VR-Headsets betrachtet, dann habe ich meine Zweifel, dass sie die Öffentlichkeit begeistern können. Die Verbraucher sind beim Entertainment nicht besonders geduldig, wenn man ihnen keine Komplettlösung anbieten kann.“
It is therefore safe to assume that Nintendo will not be offering VR content any time soon. You don't have to immediately think of the console, mobile apps would of course also be conceivable. But Nintendo is currently on the road to success with the Switch and is focussing on this. Incidentally, there is another trend that Nintendo does not want to pick up on yet, the 4K resolution.
