While Sony Interactive Entertainment is celebrating some success with PlayStation VR and over two million units sold, Nintendo is still very sceptical about virtual reality.
Philippe Lavoué, General Manager of Nintendo France, said the following in a recent interview: "We are very pragmatic. When you look at VR headsets, I have my doubts that they can excite the public. Consumers are not very patient when it comes to entertainment if you can't offer them a complete solution."
It is therefore safe to assume that Nintendo will not be offering VR content any time soon. You don't have to immediately think of the console, mobile apps would of course also be conceivable. But Nintendo is currently on the road to success with the Switch and is focussing on this. Incidentally, there is another trend that Nintendo does not want to pick up on yet, the 4K resolution.
