X Rebirth VR Edition for Oculus Rift & HTC Vive

Egosoft hat die „X Rebirth VR Edition“ für Oculus Rift mit Touch und HTC Vive veröffentlicht. Das Weltraumspiel ist als Early Access version via Steam for HTC Vive and for Oculus Rift via the Oculus Store available.

Die „X Rebirth VR Edition“ ist ein eigenständiges Spiel, basierend auf „X Rebirth: Home of Light“. Der Titel wurde vollständig neu für ein Virtual Reality-Erlebnis gestaltet und entsprechend optimiert, heisst es. „Mit Hilfe der neusten Errungenschaften der VR Technologie wie Oculus Rift mit Touch Controller und HTC Vive, lässt die X Rebirth VR Edition Spieler den Weltraum auf eine bisher unerreichte Art und Weise erkunden,“ so das Versprechen des Entwicklers.

Egosoft wants to make the game available as early as possible via the Early Access phase in order to gather feedback from VR gamers. According to the manufacturer, the early vision of the space adventure focusses on two important points:

• The VR controller based interface: X Rebirth VR Edition has an exciting new input method. The HTC Vive or Oculus Touch controllers can be used to manipulate elements of the interface in the virtual environment. Egosoft is hoping to receive feedback from players on the quality of the input in order to further improve it before release.
• The new Vulkan-based graphics engine is at a very early stage of development and is also intended as the basis for X4. The early access phase of X Rebirth VR Edition offers Egosoft many opportunities to test this new technology on a wide range of different hardware.
