PlayStation VR sold over one million units

Sony Interactive Entertainment has now announced that PlayStation VR has sold over one million units. In February 2017, the company was still talking about 915,000 units. Sony is quite satisfied with the sales, but as the hardware base of the PlayStation 4 is approaching 60 million, there is of course still plenty of room for improvement. Around Christmas and also in the new year, PlayStation VR had to contend with sometimes massive supply bottlenecks. Sony has therefore put marketing on hold. PlayStation VR is now sufficiently available again.

We can look forward to a number of VR game announcements at E3 2017, which will take place next week in Los Angeles. Sony has also once again „Breaking Bad VR“ which is currently in development for PlayStation VR. It is not supposed to be a typical VR short film, as it uses computer graphics, but it is not a game either. According to the analysts at SuperData PlayStation VR is ahead of HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, which had sold 420,000 and 243,000 units respectively by the end of 2016. However, Samsung Gear VR is even further ahead with five million units sold.
