Worlds of fragrance: Smelling virtual reality

[g1_lead]

So far, we have felt, heard and, above all, seen virtual reality. Our sense of smell has always fallen by the wayside, constantly reminding us that we are not in space, but in our office - at least it smelled suspiciously of coffee in space. A few devices want to help us change this, some more, some less serious.

A huge selection of fragrances promises the Feelreal Mask for VR. As one of the first projects of its kind, the Feelreal mask made headlines back in 2015. In addition to the odours, it can blow warm and cold air and even artificial sea spray into the wearer's face, which is sure to make for an impressive sensation. However, the result can only be pre-ordered so far. However, game developers can have an odour mixed together that exactly matches their game.

On the less serious side, the 2016 publication Nosulus Rift count. Developed primarily as a PR stunt for the new Southpark game "The Fractured But Whole", the nose attachment successfully caused its wearers to wrinkle their noses and grimace in disgust. Living up to the name of the game, the Nosulus Rift specialises in just one "scent"; the smell of farts. At least the mask is wireless and lights up in a beautiful green whenever a new smelly statement is made.

Also somewhat questionable is the OhRomawhich, in addition to its elegantly chosen name, has a number of special fragrances to offer. "Panties" and "Body odour" are just two of a range of fragrances that can be inserted into the gas mask-style mask specially developed for VR porn. The whole thing is controlled via an app.

Last but not least, one of the latest and most promising phenomena: Vaqso VR is a small attachment for our VR headsets, so small and simple that it is not even noticeable at first. Nevertheless, according to its developers, it can do a lot: the final version will be able to emit up to 10 fragrances of varying intensity to ensure an optimal fragrance experience. And the best thing is: the small fragrance workshop can be attached to all headsets using a magnet and is therefore completely wireless.
