The number of good 360-degree videos on various platforms is increasing more and more. Initially, there were mainly a lot of demo films without really strong content, but now the technical and content realisation is increasing massively. ZDF is currently demonstrating this with its latest 360 production. ZDF has had a VR app for iOS and Android for some time now. Their latest production for this is called "360° Gladiators in the Colosseum"
This 10-minute VR film offers a journey back in time to the year 80 AD to what was probably the most exciting spectacle of antiquity. The film serves as an accompanying programme to the Terra X documentary "A Day in Ancient Rome". The viewer can be there live in the arena when the gladiators fight in the Colosseum. Directly and in close proximity, as if you were standing next to the protagonists.
360° Gladiators in the Colosseum" is a 10-minute, fully immersive 3D and 360-degree documentary. The film sets new standards in the quality of VR films. The Production company Faber Courtial combines spatial film shots of real actors with a computer-generated, fully immersive backdrop (CGI). A new camera system was specially developed to realise this. The film is excellently produced and offers a great VR experience.
