Archaeological Park in Tremona in Ticino

At the Tremona excavation site, archaeologists and volunteers have unearthed the remains of a mountain settlement and thousands of finds. These allow us to better understand the past of the entire region and, in particular, everyday life in a medieval village. Thanks to the excavations, visitors learn how people lived and died, how houses were built, and the conditions in which the rulers and the people lived. Each of these reconstructed buildings is the result of a previous excavation and years of archaeological and architectural research.

On the discovery of the medieval settlement with 3D

For an even more immersive experience, visitors have 3D glasses at their disposal that display everything even more realistically and project you directly into the Middle Ages. 10 access points to augmented reality have been set up on the excavation site. At them, visitors can enter the medieval houses of the castrum, visit the forge and immerse themselves in everyday life in the village.

For this realistic experience, you can go directly to the Info Point in Tremona. The glasses are available in 4 languages (Italian, English, German and French).

The project was supported by the city of Mendrisio and the regional tourism association Mendrisiotto and Basso Ceresio. Technical supervision was provided by the University of Applied Sciences of the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland (SUPSI).
