The digital agency Kuble, based in Zurich, has set up a presence on the Metaverse for the travel company Hotelplan Suisse (Travelhouse, Tourisme Pour Tous, Hotelplan and Migros Ferien).
The Metaverse can certainly not replace travelling, but it can serve as an additional service and experience tool, especially during the research and information phase before booking a trip and before the trip begins. This is precisely where the Hotelplan Suisse Metaverse Space on Spatial according to a press release.
Somehow the idea is not new. After we in January 2017 reportedAlthough Hotelplan was a pioneer in offering its customers a new service with VR glasses, we had to write about a flop in May 2019. The VR glasses were removed from the branches. Was Hotelplan too early?
The Kuble agency has now created a virtual space in which visitors with Oculus VR glasses, desktop or via mobile app can gain virtual insights into three destinations: Greece, London and the African savannah. In addition to audiovisual content on these environments, there are also videos and images with offers from Hotelplan Suisse.
On the one hand, Kuble was responsible for the technical conception and realisation of the Space, for which a lot of experience with comparable projects was a success factor. On the other hand, the digital agency with its Metaverse expertise was also the sparring partner of Hotelplan Suisse for an event that took place on 13 April. The programme included a panel discussion on the relevance of the Metaverse in the travel industry, a live link to Greece including virtual Sirtaki dancing and the guests could ask questions.
We'll see if the idea makes it longer this time.
