The start-up Holo-Light wants to become the leading "Netflix for VR and AR". In a podcast episode, two of the co-founders explain what it's all about and where the potential lies.
The VR and AR streaming service
Holo-Light's streaming service will be called XRnow and will allow developers of AR and VR applications to stream them to the end consumer. The first example will be AR3S from Holo-Light itself - a software for engineers. XRnow is designed as a streaming-as-a-service platform and will bring applications to mobile XR devices.
The startup has big plans according to Florian Haspinger, CEO and co-founder of Holo-Light: "We want to become the leading immersive streaming platform worldwide."

Streaming in surgery
Most recently, the company announced a success in June 2022. For example, medical technology company Enhatch is collaborating with Holo-Light: the partners will jointly offer a new streaming platform for extended reality (XR) to optimise intraoperative procedures as well as surgeon training through AR and VR. Enhatch has developed the first intelligent surgery ecosystem that connects companies, technologies and surgeons to streamline clinical workflows as well as tailor surgeries more precisely to individual cases.
Working with Holo-Light, surgical teams can practice virtually in AR and VR, both independently and in a collaborative environment. In doing so, XR streaming technology enables unprecedented levels of detail and performance to display, work with and interact with complex 3D content faster and more reliably.
