Augmented reality (AR) contact lens manufacturer Mojo Vision is back with a new application scenario: an Alexa shopping list for the supermarket.
Mojo Vision has been working on the Mojo Lens tech contact lens for around five years. We wrote about it two years ago reports. In April, the company presents the latest feature complete prototype, a hard contact lens with a mini display that can be worn in the eye. The display projects digital information into the field of vision at a 15-degree viewing angle. The lens uses movement sensors to track eye movements and can therefore show different image sections depending on the viewing angle. The display is currently only available in monochrome green.
Contact lens shopping with Alexa
Mojo Vision is now showing a new demo for a possible Application scenarioAn Alexa shopping list that you can keep an eye on while shopping in the supermarket and use with eye movements. The list is updated in real time via the internet, for example when friends add further items.
Mojo Vision has otherwise made considerable progress in the development of the display contact lens. The company, which employs around 100 people, initially wants to obtain approval for medical application scenarios over the next few years and is then aiming for a launch in the consumer market.
The device is expected to be priced in the smartphone range. However, the lenses have to be customised for the wearer, as is usual with hard contact lenses, which makes sales more difficult.
