With the project "Museum Line 4", the city council wants to make this cluster of museums along a single tram line visible and strengthen the perception of Zurich as a museum city. Digital measures are also planned.
Tramline 4 connects over 20 museums and thus around a third of all museums in the city of Zurich. With the project "Museum Line 4", the city council wants to make this cluster of museums along a single tram line visible and thus strengthen the diverse museum landscape of the city of Zurich as a whole.
For the planning of various measures and their implementation during a two-year pilot phase, it has allocated an amount of 1.27 million Swiss francs.
Create connection between tram line and museums
The concept that the city council has had drawn up for Museum Line 4 envisages measures in public and digital space. They create a connection between the tram line and the museums and complement each other.
The measures in the public space include floor signs, signs and posters at the stops on tram line 4 as well as hanging boxes in all trams. These draw attention to the museums and point out the measures in the digital space.
There, a website with an interactive map of Museum Line 4 serves as a central point of contact. It also refers to the diverse museum landscape of the entire city of Zurich and thus creates added value for all museums.
In addition, applications for augmented reality and so-called "memes" are planned, which allow playful, interactive access to exhibits from the museums.
