HTC Vive Pro 2 angekündigt

HTC Vive Pro 2 announced

At Vivecon 2021, HTC Vive announced the new VR headset Vive Pro 2, which offers 5K resolution and a 120-degree field of view. The market launch will take place on 4 June 2021.

"The stunning 5K resolution and 120-degree field of view set a new benchmark for PC VR and all-in-one headsets. The Vive Pro 2 delivers an amazing, immersive experience with beautifully smooth graphics, comfort and precise tracking when every pixel and polygon counts," says Graham Wheeler, HTC Vive EMEA General Manager.

The HTC Vive 2 Pro delivers 2.5K to each eye, paired with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and a "fast-switching panel with true RGB subpixels for crystal-clear and natural animations". The field of view expands to 120 degrees thanks to the new dual-stacked lens design. According to HTC, this means minimised motion blur. "The screen door effect is virtually eliminated, giving users a more tangible experience that they can immerse themselves in even better," it says.

HTC Vive is also working closely with Nvidia and AMD to optimise display stream compression. This should ensure maximum visual quality and is backwards compatible with Display Port 1.2, which is why graphics cards that supported the Vive Pro will also benefit from Vive Pro 2. The VR headset's other design features include: "Vive Pro 2 offers a finely adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD), even weight distribution, an adjustable headband and quick size adjustment. Vive Pro 2 offers 3D surround sound via HiRes audio certified headphones and also supports third-party headphones."

The good news is that all accessories in the Vive Steam VR ecosystem work with Vive Pro 2, including trackers of every generation, the new facial tracker and more. Vive Pro 2 therefore also fits into an existing Steam VR setup, whether Base Station 1.0 and 2.0 or older VIVE controllers. Even controllers and gloves such as Valve's Index Knuckle controllers are supported. Further information about HTC Vive Pro 2 can be found on the official side.
