Facebook kauft VR-Studio Downpour Interactive

Facebook buys VR studio Downpour Interactive

Facebook has confirmed its fourth VR studio acquisition. It is Downpour Interactive, which is known for the popular VR shooter "Onward". The title has been in development for several years and was most recently released for Oculus Quest.

Facebook wants to help founder and CEO Dante Buckley and Downpour Interactive develop "Onward" as one of the leading multiplayer VR games. It also aims to support communities across Rift, Quest and Steam. "As part of the Oculus Studios team, Downpour Interactive will expand on its concept of creating outstanding games that engage the human spirit and bring a rain of emotions to players. We are thrilled to welcome them to the family," Facebook said in its announcement.

That's why Downpour Interactive was bought: "We have had several years of great success with Onward on the Oculus platform - first on Rift and more recently on Quest. Being part of the Oculus Studios family gives Downpour Interactive the opportunity to both nurture the Onward community with the full support of Oculus Studios resources and pursue other projects in the future."
