Nintendo has launched a new racing game for the Switch console with "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit", which is based on the Augmented reality sets. A launch trailer serves as an introduction.
In "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit", you build a racetrack in your own home and race through the rooms with physical karts equipped with a camera. Track graphics, opponents, items, etc. are displayed on the Nintendo Switch screen, which is why the title plays like a real "Mario Kart". The disadvantage might be that you need some space to create reasonable tracks.
And this is how it works according to Nintendo: "Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is quickly set up and ready to play. Players place four included gates as waymarks in their home before the start. They then use the Nintendo Switch console to steer a physical kart through each of them in turn and use their chosen route to determine the course of the track." There is a choice of modes including "Grand Prix", time trial and mirror mode. There is also a multiplayer mode for up to four players, whereby each gamer needs their own kart and a Switch.
It adds: "If you grab a turbo mushroom in the game, for example, you can give your vehicle a speed boost in the living room, while hitting it with a tank will stop it. The supplied kart can drive over various flat surfaces indoors, making it possible to combine different floors such as hardwood, laminate, tiles and short-pile carpet in one track."
