Oculus Go is discontinued

The Oculus Go, which was released around two years ago, will no longer be produced. Oculus and Facebook are therefore discontinuing the VR headset. Instead, the focus will be fully placed on Oculus Quest and Rift.

The words of praise from those responsible: "Looking to the future, we are grateful to the Oculus Go community for driving the VR revolution. Unique in a landscape of tethered and drop-in systems, Oculus Go pioneered the all-in-one category - a new kind of VR with more freedom and flexibility. And that was a game changer. Oculus Go opened up VR to many more people and helped redefine immersive entertainment. From live concerts and sporting events to couch co-op gameplay, corporate training and beyond, Oculus Go empowered people around the world with new experiences and laid the foundation for Oculus Quest."

Anyone who owns an Oculus Go headset can continue to use it after sales are discontinued. System software with bug fixes and security updates will continue to be released until 2022. However, no new features will be integrated. In addition, no new Oculus Go apps or app updates will be added to the shop after 18 December 2020. Further information can be found on the official side.
