Frutigen invites you into the realm of the last orangutans

The Frutigen Tropical Centre in the Bernese Oberland invites you to a Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Switzerland for the special exhibition "We are the forest". Visitors can immerse themselves in the realm of the last orangutans and the tropical rainforest. The exhibition runs from June to 3 January 2021 and also offers a virtual reality experience.

The photo exhibition "We are the forest" provides an insight into the realm of the last orangutans in Indonesia, the rainforest of Borneo. On display are pictures by ten internationally renowned and mostly award-winning wildlife and nature photographers. The Tropical House Frutigen shows a selection of 31 exhibits from the exhibition. These are visually and thematically embedded in the plant world of the Tropenhaus Frutigen and accompanied by a supporting programme.

Fun and excitement and a bit of VR for young and old

"We are delighted to be able to offer exciting added value with the new special exhibition, combined with play and knowledge transfer," explains Marcel Baillods, CEO of Tropenhaus Frutigen. The photo exhibition is spread throughout the tropical garden and contains many informative elements. On the special adventure trail, our young visitors will find questions about the orangutan at various stations and can tick the answers on a punch card. As a reward for taking part, there is a surprise in the shop as a souvenir.

Interactive elements with sounds, films and stories make the adventure trail varied and exciting. Virtual reality glasses even allow visitors to immerse themselves in the BOS forest kindergarten for a few minutes. Children's workshops led by BOS Switzerland will be held regularly until October. Climbing activities and discovery tours with Lili, the tropical house marmot, are also on the programme.
