Happyr Health - AR-Spiele-App als digitale Therapie für junge Migränepatienten

Happyr Health - AR game app as digital therapy for young migraine patients

Not only adults, but also millions of children suffer from migraines - and often in silence. Nicola Filzmoser and Cornelius Palm have made it their goal to lend an ear to these children because of their history of chronic pain in childhood. The two startup founders want to support young migraine sufferers with their Happyr Health app by combining game mechanics and scientific research.

Migraines have a negative impact on physical health and emotional and social well-being. Many children are also affected. Until now, however, research and treatment programmes have mainly focused on adults. An app is now set to provide a remedy and make children Happyr.

Therapy with an augmented reality avatar

Through the Happyr Health App children can talk and chat with an augmented reality avatar in a safe and secure environment. Based on the child's conversations and a parent dashboard, the app recognises individual migraine triggers.

"Based on this migraine diary, we can suggest psychological treatments within the application and adapt them to the child. With a team of migraine experts and psychologists, we will initially provide cognitive behavioural therapy in the form of mobile games," says Cornelius Palm, CEO of Happyr Health, explaining how the app works.

HappyRr wants to use gaming to better integrate children into the overall pain management process. The aim is to use unconventional methods to make the entire therapy more enjoyable and fun. The treatment suggestions are packed with digital games, augmented reality adventures and exciting
Challenges. A toolbox at hand, no matter when and where a child needs it.

The founding duo, two students from the University of Cambridge, moved to England after their studies and start-up experience in Austria. Happyr Health is part of the Accelerate Cambridge programme at Cambridge Judge Business School. A British crowdfunding campaign is currently underway to develop the first version of the app.

Migraine patients should be the first to benefit from the new form of therapy. However, Happyr has set itself the long-term goal of integrating all chronic diseases into its app.
