The Simpsons have taken the mickey out of virtual reality in a new couch gag that can always be seen at the beginning of an episode. You can find out what this looks like in the video here in the news.
Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and even Maggie experience all kinds of virtual adventures, which are depicted in a special VR graphics style. But in the end, it all gets a bit too much for Homer, which is why he switches to classic TV. The rest of the family, however, seems to be very impressed.
Incidentally, the Simpsons have a long history of VR themes behind them. VR glasses, for example, were featured as early as 1993. In the years that followed, there were repeated episodes in which virtual reality was touched on more or less extensively. The best way to find out more is to watch this interesting graphic on. For the SNES and SEGA MegaDrive, there was even a game called "Virtual Beard", which also focussed on VR.
