Nintendo explores AR

With "Nintendo Labo Nintendo has already tried its hand at virtual reality. According to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, they are not closed to new technologies and are researching them. This also includes Augmented reality.

Shuntaro Furukawa said: "We are constantly in research and development. Our hardware development teams evaluate all kinds of new technologies that are currently available and consult with our software developers. If they find that a technology can be used in a game, then they will use it. We will not change this basic approach in the future."

Speaking specifically about AR, Shuntaro Furukawa mentioned, "As far as AR is concerned, it is definitely one of the many aspects we are interested in. We are currently exploring what interesting possibilities we can implement with it." This statement does not necessarily mean that Nintendo will release a new AR project in the future. However, the success of "Pokémon GO" should not be detrimental to such a project.
