The Steam Awards 2019 were voted for in eight categories, by the users themselves. Of course, gamers also settled on VR Game of the Year, with a logical focus on titles released via Steam in 2019.
The Steam VR Award was won by the popular music and rhythm game "Beat Saber" which has actually been playable since 2018. Steam Early Access, however, only ended in 2019. Overall, however, the victory is not a big surprise. Incidentally, the most popular VR games after "Beat Saber" were "Blade & Sorcery", "Gorn", "Borderlands 2 VR" and "Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted".
"When it comes to breaking new frames, there are few things more explosive than the breathtaking progress in VR. If it were up to us, all VR developers would receive an award for using VR to create the future of immersive games and experiences that no other medium can match. But since there is only one award to give out, it's up to you, dear Steam Awards committee member, to crown a VR game as the best of 2019," Valve said of the VR category.
