The Coca Cola Company has come up with an interesting campaign for Mexico centred around Augmented reality has come up with. When you open the Coca Cola app on your smartphone and point the camera at the Coke can, one of a total of 12 little stories comes to life, which is certainly a nice way to pass the time after quenching your thirst.
In the video, you can watch the cute animations centred around the Coke can. In a short story, two rival football fans violently beat the drums of their home teams before becoming friends and playing together after a football comes flying out of the can. The 3D worlds and characters were created by a specialised visual effects agency called Timber.
„Dieses Projekt war eine perfekte Implementierung für AR,“ so Jonah Hall und Kevin Lau, Creative-Directors bei Timber. „Die harmonische Zusammenarbeit von Menschen war schon immer das Kernstück der Idee. Coke war stets gut darin, seine Marke mit Glück und Harmonie zu verbinden. Daraus entstand das Konzept. Die Art von AR erlaubte es dem Zuschauer, diese Geschichten mit der praktischen Cola-Dose als Requisite in seine Umgebung zu bringen und somit die Kulisse für jedes dieser Szenarien zu bilden.“
