Coke can brought to life with AR

The Coca Cola Company has come up with an interesting campaign for Mexico centred around Augmented reality has come up with. When you open the Coca Cola app on your smartphone and point the camera at the Coke can, one of a total of 12 little stories comes to life, which is certainly a nice way to pass the time after quenching your thirst.

In the video, you can watch the cute animations centred around the Coke can. In a short story, two rival football fans violently beat the drums of their home teams before becoming friends and playing together after a football comes flying out of the can. The 3D worlds and characters were created by a specialised visual effects agency called Timber.

"This project was a perfect implementation for AR," said Jonah Hall and Kevin Lau, Creative Directors at Timber. "The harmonious collaboration of people has always been at the heart of the idea. Coke has always been good at associating its brand with happiness and harmony. That's where the concept came from. The nature of AR allowed the viewer to bring these stories into their environment with the practical Coke can as a prop, creating the backdrop for each of these scenarios."
