"The Fantastic Four have been around for 30 years and to mark this important band anniversary, Deutsche Telekom is presenting an exclusive VR experience called "Die Fantastischen VR: Fantaventura".
To the sounds of the 90s hit "Tag am Meer" (Day by the Sea), you can dive into the universe of the "Fantastic Four" and experience Smudo, Thomas D, Michi Beck and And.Ypsilon up close. You meet the young versions as well as the "Fantastischen Vier" of today. The volumetric recordings were created with the help of the latest technology in Berlin's Volucap Studios. The prospect is held out that the boundaries of reality are blurring, in keeping with the song's motto, "When the future becomes the present".
Smudo: "With my enthusiasm for VR, I have infected some people in my environment. And so, sometime three years ago, the idea came up that you could produce a VR experience for the 30th anniversary. The goal was to create a product at the highest level, without being able to foresee exactly where the technological development of VR products would go."
Michi Beck adds: "Pioneering is what keeps us going besides the music. We are proud to have found partners who have enabled us to realise Fantaventura and to be one of the first bands to be allowed to experiment with a technology that will be normal in a few years."
Two versions are planned for "Fantastic VR: Fantaventura". Smartphone users can already download the "Magenta VR app and launch the 360-degree version via it. The 6DoF implementation will be available via Steam from October 2019, for VR headsets such as the HTC Vive.
