Nintendo may be looking to invest more in virtual reality, as the Japanese company has filed a patent for a VR device intended for the Switch.
As the Dutch side LetsGoDigital reports, the patent was filed back in February 2018, but was only made public on 22 August 2019. The Switch VR headset, described as a "3D Image Display Dsystem" and "3D Image Display Device", looks quite "Nintendo Labo VR very similar, as it again does without a holder for the head. It must therefore be held via the Joy-Cons of the Switch. The big difference to "Nintendo Labo VR": The holder is made of plastic instead of cardboard.
Of course, it should be noted that not all patents will result in actual products, but if Nintendo decides to do so, we should see more VR experiences for the Switch. Some titles like The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey are already compatible with VR. In any case, Nintendo has not yet announced a VR headset for the Switch.
