When it comes to the Venice Film Festival the most talked about film is "Joker" starring Joaquin Phoenix, which won the "Golden Lion". However, VR experiences were also honoured in Venice.
39 VR and AR projects were presented at Venice VR, 26 of which were nominated for three awards. The VR film "The Key"which has already won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival, scooped the main prize for the best VR application in Venice. The Key" is about Anna, who cannot remember her past. Only a mysterious key is connected to her past.
"The Line"which is about two dolls in love, Pedro and Rosa, won the award for the best interactive VR story. The 360-degree documentary "Daughters of Chibok" was honoured for the best VR story. It focuses on the events when the Islamist terrorist organisation "Boko Haram" kidnapped 276 young schoolgirls from school in Nigeria.
