Eight VR: Opera designed for virtual reality

"Eight VR" is an opera that has been specially designed for virtual reality. It aims to merge music and the visual world into a single entity while utilising advanced technologies such as full-body and face tracking.

In "Eight VR" you move backwards through the most important moments of a woman's life. The work is described as follows describedEight is a mixed reality project by composer and director Michel van der Aa, singer and songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke and the Netherlands Chamber Choir. Van der Aa has collaborated with designer Theun Mosk and VR company The Virtual Dutch Men to create a unique, ground-breaking fusion of music theatre, VR and visual art." "Eight VR" is currently touring Europe and the official side the dates are given. The duration of the experience is approximately 15 minutes.

The further description sounds very interesting: "Eight tells the poignant life story of a woman in reverse chronological order. Equipped with VR glasses and headphones, visitors move through an installation one after the other. They can manipulate physical and virtual objects and meet the woman at various crucial moments in her life. The woman's memories are spread across flexible walls in the form of interactive hieroglyphs and can be activated. Actual corridors merge almost imperceptibly with virtual corridors, creating an infinite space."
