Russian developer Vladimir Romanyuk has been working on "Space Engine" for eight years. This is a huge simulation of our universe. Familiar galaxies, nebulae, planets and more are available, while the rest of the universe is supplemented by procedurally generated content.
"Space Engine" is on Steam in Early Access available. HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Valve Index are supported. With the fully-fledged VR mode, which supports motion controllers, an immersive journey through space is possible. The reviews on Steam are very positive. "Space Engine" is described as a science-based, photorealistic and interactive 3D planetarium.
Billions of galaxies, nebulae, stars and planets are available. All of these are displayed in their full and real size, according to the promise. "Explore Earth and the neighbouring worlds in our solar system, orbit a black hole in a galaxy billions of light years away, or visit everything in between," reads the official description.
