Startup Yarviss: Online shopping meets virtual reality

The young Hamburg-based company Yarviss wants to bring online shops and websites into the VR world.

More traffic and sales through VR shopping - that is the promise of Mert Ersu Cakar, business psychologist and founder of Yarviss. The Hamburg-based start-up wants to bring websites into the world of VR. Story shopping, for example, is intended to integrate existing online shops into a specially developed virtual marketplace. Here, users can navigate between different brand worlds, subscribe to their favourite brands and shop for products directly from the platform. With this business model, Mert wants to conquer not only the e-commerce sector, but also the entertainment and tourism sector.

VR webshop in two days

Five months ago, Mert Ersu Cakar founded the portal with the aim of turning online shopping into an emotional shopping experience. With Yarviss, he created a kind of virtual reality marketplace. The young Hamburg-based company uses existing websites and makes them suitable for virtual reality. According to the Yarviss founder, this process takes no longer than two days. It would also have a positive impact on traffic, returns and sales. The offer can be used not only in the e-commerce sector, but also in other industries: this is shown by current test customers from the fashion and industrial sectors.

First test run expected in autumn 2019

There are two versions for users to choose from: To use Yarviss Go, cardboard glasses are sufficient, i.e. a special cardboard holder that turns a smartphone into VR glasses. Yarviss Pro, on the other hand, requires VR glasses with a joystick.

A test run for customers is expected to take place in autumn 2019. It will be possible to try out the technology in cooperation with a shop in Hamburg city centre.
